I’m up to chapter eighteen of my re edited novel; going great, now getting readability percentages in the nineties (before submitting to autocrit I sat in the seventies and low eighties). There are no hard-and-fast rules on how long or short a chapter needs to be. It could be three pages. It could be 22. It could be 40.
